So, yeah. I'm bored, I feel like doing this, and I want to give my brain a break and procrastinate a bit on the personal essay I'm supposed to be writing. Deal with it, I suppose. This list is appropriated from the profile of my dearest friend raberbagirl, but filled with what my answers would be instead. ;)  And no manga section, as I hate manga (I can't read it to save my life; same goes for comic books. Graphic novels of any kind and Kiryn do not mix well).

Favorites
Character: Mat Cauthon, from The Wheel of Time series. So much love, so little time. Eventually, once I get up my big post about favorite characters, you'll get sick of hearing about this dude. ;)

Female Character: Maleficent, from Disney's Sleeping Beauty, always and forever.

Anime Character: Kyouya Ootori, from Ouran High School Host Club. Aka the only anime I've watched all the way through, and loved.

Video Game Character: *headdesk* fffffffff. Um...crap. Let's go with Balthier, from Final Fantasy XII. Because I could never choose a favorite character from Kingdom Hearts; there's too many that I adore. Tseng and Aerith from Final Fantasy VII get honorable mentions, though.

Character from a live-action movie: *ponders* Erik Lensherr, from X-Men: First Class.

Character from an animated movie: Prince Phillip, from Disney's Sleeping Beauty, my other eternal love.

Character from a live-action TV show: Dean Winchester, from Supernatural; yet another name to add to the list of troubled, devil-may-care, jerks with hearts of gold, badass balls of angsty fluffiness, chivalrous perverts, rogue anti-heroes that have got trauma conga lines that are miles long, and that I love to ridiculous heights.

Character from an animated TV show: Rarity, from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic; she totally rocks my socks, dude.

Book Character (that's not Mat): Sirius Black, from the Harry Potter series; he steals away most of my fanfic writings

Male Character as far as pure looks: Rufus ShinRa, from Final Fantasy VII; seriously, fuck you, dude.

Female Character as far as pure looks: Jo Harvelle from Supernatural; she's got the most glorious hair I've ever seen on a girl. (Similarly, Gwaine from BBC's Merlin has the most glorious hair I've ever seen on a guy, but I like him for more than just his looks, so.)

Pairing: Remus/Sirius from Harry Potter, my OTP of OTPs

Romantic Pairing that's not Remus/Sirius: Uh....let's go with Hades/Persephone, from Greek myth, before I break my brain.

Platonic Pairing: Currently my brain's stuck on Lancelot and Merlin, so let's go with that; from BBC's Merlin.

OT3: Merlin/Arthur/Gwen, from BBC's Merlin, is my final answer (for the time being XD). But this is my only OT3 where I genuinely prefer them to all be together, as opposed to split off, so...

OT4: James/Lily/Sirius/Remus, from HP; mostly family, maybe a few relaxed lines, but no sexy times except for J/L and S/R. ;)

OT5: Angeal/Sephiroth/Genesis/Zack/Cloud, from FFVII; and oh yes, I go there. Totally. And this works surprisingly well.

OT6: Twilight Sparkle/Pinkie Pie/Fluttershy/Rarity/Applejack/Rainbow Dash, from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic; and yep, I totally have an OT6. Mostly friendship here, as I'm many things, but a furry is not one of them. ;)

OT7: Honey/Mori/Haruhi/Tamaki/Kyouya/Kaoru/Hikaru, from OHSHC; and really, why break them up? The canon family set up, please and thank you. And if Mommy and Daddy get some alone time every now and again, I won't complain. :P

Crack pairing: Terra/Cinderella, from KH; I've got many, many, many more, but I'll never love a crack pairing like I do Terrella. Second place probably goes to Cassandra/Lizardman, from Soul Calibur. For TOTAL crack, Maximus/Samson has been growing on me (they're the horses from Tangled and Sleeping Beauty, respectively)....which I blame completely on my friend Ballpoints. XD

Cargo ship: Dean/Impala, from Supernatural; 100% canon, I'm telling you...also, rather tragic. (FYI: the Impala is Dean's car)

Ex-romantic pairing: Princess Celestia\Discord, from MLP:FiM. Seriously. And sadly, pairings like Grindelwald/Dumbledore and Erik/Charles could probably fit here too. But I won't. Because I'm stubborn. Also, Severus/Lily kind of fits here too.

Incest Ship: I have four of these, now; Blackcest, Hikaru/Kaoru, Weiss/Nero, and the newest is Morgause/Morgana.

Fan art OTP: Meg/Ariel, a Disney crossover pairing. And I can't help it, they're just so adorable together, and Meg's potential interactions with Melody amuse the hell out of me. ^^

I love surveys as well. XD And I liked reading your list as well, so I figured you might like to see mine as well. ^^

Seph is indeed very pretty. But I didn't put him there because I love him for more than just his looks...plus, he got some publicity anyway for being in my OT5.

And yes. Yes he does. I don't know what it is about Rufus, but argh HIS FACE AND HIS HAIR IN ADVENT CHILDREN, and GUH. Seriously, for some reason, he is supremely attractive to me. But Rufus doesn't have Luxord's stellar personality, so he fails on that front, and it's why I put him under "pure looks". Because he's a shitty human being. Not as bad as Hojo, but still. *side-eyes Rufus* "I'm ruling through fear", much? :/

Yes, it's a sexual one. But honestly, it's not like any of the other four are that much older than Cloud (who's usually at the upper extreme of his age). Or else it's an AU. BUT I CAN'T HELP IT, R-GIRL, I JUST CAN'T!!! *headdesk* When I stumbled onto this pairing, it's because THE RIDICULOUS SEPH/CLOUD OVERTONES IN DISSIDIA were getting to me, so I was curious, and decided to do some investigating. I came across this one story, called "The Mission", and it said that it was a Gen/Cloud/Seph. Now, I already shipped Gen/Seph from CC, so I figured, in my Seph/Cloud searching, throwing my beloved Genesis into the mix probably wouldn't be so bad, and might make the experience even better (because I wasn't sold on Seph/Cloud at this point), because I find a well-written Gen so incredibly amusing. The threesome was carried out quite well. The story was funny, everyone was well-balanced and IC, Gen was amusing the hell out of me, Seph was adorable, Cloud was the one in main control of the relationship, it was all going good.

AND THEN IT THREW ANGEAL AND ZACK INTO THE MIX. EVOLVING IT INTO THE OT5.

At first, I didn't really like it, though it was still well-written. I loved Zack's outsider perceptions of Gen, Seph, and Cloud, and I LOVED LOVED LOVED the Angeal/Genesis relationship, but...the OT5? Ehhhhhnnnn.

And then it just...grew on me. I got used to it. Then I started seeking it out. Then it became my guilty pleasure pairing. And then it became my legitimate ship. My one and only OT5, and really, my only sexual moresome that I'd ever read.

Anyway, I've spent far too much time babbling on about ASGZC, so let's move along now...

And no, you didn't. Religion aside, I completely understand your dislike of the rabid yaoi fans. They get on my nerves too. Or really, it just makes me kind of want to cry, how easily these girls seem to hate people of their own goddamn gender. And I hate, hate, hate, hate the seme/uke dynamic. I mean, yes, I do believe that one partner can have a more outgoing personality than the other, but the popularized 'uke' takes it too fricking far. I especially hate uke!Roxas and uke!Sora, OH MY GOD, DIIIIIEEEEEEE YOU ABOMINATIONS. I mean, if anything, it's Axel and Riku who are the submissive ones to Roxas and Sora, not the other way around.

And no, RL homosexuality isn't like that at all. Believe me, I know. RL gay people are just like normal people: they have equality in their relationships. They're two girls. Or two guys.

It's like that quote that I have on my profile...about how asking which is the guy and which is the girl in a gay relationship is like going into a Chinese restaurant and asking which chopstick is the fork. :)

But anyway, I agree about the annoying-ness of the rabid side of the yaoi fandom. And it's especially annoying to me, because it gives the rest of us the bad name and reputation. :/

But no, don't worry about it, I wasn't offended. I mean, you're not nearly as bad as some slash haters that I've seen, the ones that say it's so sick and wrong and that the people who do ship slash are all degenerate perverted freaks who should be ashamed of ourselves and who basically wish to completely erase the existence of slash (and they don't seem to get that that counts as wishing for the erasure of homosexuality in RL as well, on a certain level....). Whether or not you believe any of that, at least you, R-girl, are polite enough not to be so rude and mean about it. You know what I mean?

They're twenty-fiiiiiiive! He's fourteeeeeennnn!!!!!!!! DX Zack is also icky but not as much...16 and especially 17 is kind of the threshold for me, I can kind of take that, with a lot of wincing. But 15-, and ESPECIALLY 14-, all I can think is raperaperape. X( Though if "Cloud was the one in main control of the relationship" maybe that's not...quite as terribly bad.... X(

I can understand the seme/uke dynamic, and apparently it's a Japanese cultural thing - but I think it's taken too far sometimes, and fangirls especially abuse it to death, and I vastly prefer the American equal partnership thing. Like, with AkuSai, I couldn't figure out which was the "seme" and which was the "uke" (regardless of whether it's a romantic or platonic interpretation), and finally I realized that it just depends. Sometimes one acts more semeish, and at other times the same one acts more ukeish, and one of the things I love so much about those two is that they are partners. Someday I'll getting around to writing out the full explanation for why I so adore this ship, but after I just spewed out that "I have no free time! *rips out hair*" journal entry, maybe I'd better wait on that. XD

AND YES. YES, YES, YES. I cannot STAND uke!Roxas, AT ALL. Uke!Sora is whatever, but uke!Roxas drives me up the freaking wall. And yes, you are also totally right, Axel is completely Roxas's [word that Layman used but which I can't lol], and I find woobie!Riku (uke in a yaoi situation) to be far more appealing than arrogant (or seme!)Riku. And seme!Sora would just be interesting, and more plausible than one would think at first glance. Oh, and slavering mindless uke!Saix also needs to die a horrible, horrible death. X(

Anyway. What was I saying? Oh, the point I guess is that I kind of get the seme/uke thing, but I think it's very easily abused. And seme!Roxas pwns uke!Roxas every single time.

That's what I figured. Because guys, no matter what their orientation, relate to each other differently than they do to girls (and girls relate to each other etc.), and the het model just doesn't...match. So I'm seeing stuff like Roxas swooning in Axel's arms like an old-fashioned Disney princess with her twu wuv, and I'm making o.O faces because it just doesn't make sense to me.

WAIT WAIT WAIT, let's back up for a minute, because I JUST REALIZED THAT WE ARE OPERATING UNDER A MISCONCEPTION. OOPS.

See, the thing about ASGZC stories is that they never, ever completely follow the CC timeline faithfully. There's no way that they can, because Angeal and Genesis are long gone from ShinRa by the time that Zack even meets Cloud. Hell, the mission that Zack and Cloud meet on is the one in which Angeal DIES. So, the ASGZC stories that take place somewhat within the canon universe have altered the timeline. So...they're a canon AU. THEREFORE, the youngest that Cloud has EVER been in the ASGZC relationship is 15. Mostly, he tends to be in the 16-17 age range. Usually 16. And believe me, because there aren't a lot, I've pretty much read all of the ASGZC stories out there. So, not much better, but no, Cloud is never 14 in any of the stories, and I thought that it might be relevant for you to know that the CC timeline is bent around a bit. :)

I totally get what you mean, re: Axel and Saix being equal partners. Because they both give as good as they get.

What, that Axel is Roxas's bitch? ;P Yeah, I was going to use that phrase, but I went WAY OVER the character limit of this reply box last time, so I had to cut back on a lot of things. ;) And I love the idea of seme!Sora more than most things. My AEM!Sora is way more of a seme than a uke, and I adore him muchly. And Riku is definitely the insecure, woobie one in his and Sora's relationship. But seriously, ugh, uke!Roxas, how I hate thee.

I'm glad too. :D And yes, it totally does happen on both sides. That's one of the annoying things of shipping both slash and het...the fanatic yaoi-haters on me for liking slash, and the rabid yaoi fangirls hate on me for liking het ships, and then I'm left in the middle bashing my head against the wall. I swear, you'd think it was a cardinal sin, the fact that my favorite Sora ship is Sora/Namine, and not Sora/Riku. I mean, yes, Sora/Riku is my favorite ship for RIKU, but not for Sora. SoNami's totes better. And then cue the looks of stunned horror. :/

Well...I guess that does make it a little better. A little. More in a "female teachers sleeping with their high school junior/senior students" way than the AkuShi/AkuRoku "male college graduates sleeping with high school freshmen" thing I was thinking of. ^^;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Yes. ^^;;;; I can say "Roxas has Axel wrapped around his little finger" (no innuendo intended -.-) and "Roxas totally has Axel whipped," but not the most accurate phrase. :p And I mean, that's how I write AkuRokuShi platonically, too, because I think it is cute and hilarious; and also, seme!Roxas is the only way I can handle the thought of AkuRoku. X( Because the pairing already spews enough pedo vibes, and seeing a positive portrayal of Axel dominating Roxas (or Xion) makes my brain shut down in horrified self-defense. (See, AkuSai doesn't have this problem, lalalalala....)

I forgot to mention that I was talking about XemSai, but YES. EW. I've seen some cute "Saix puppy" comics (which might have something to do with the fact that Demyx is involved XD), but there are others that make me want to scream and beat my head against the wall. Or just hug Saix and cry. Even with a sobbing nerdy fangirl clinging to him, he'd still have some shreds of dignity left, which is more than I can say for those brain-bleach-inducing comics. ;;

Yeah...but I figure that Cloud is considered an "adult" by FFVII society, considering that he's joined up with the military. And really, it's not like poor Angeal, Gen, or (especially) Seph have the same sense of morality that we do, particularly when it comes to sex, when they've been raised as nothing more than super-SOLDIERS all their lives, and have hardly known life outside of a laboratory and ShinRa. I mean, come on, is it any wonder how they're all so mentally messed up? Like I said, especially poor Seph, who had to grow up with a depraved being like Hojo. So therefore, I'm more lax than you about age gaps like this. These characters don't have the same understanding of proper sexual conduct like I do, and Cloud functions as an adult in the context of his world, and therefore, since all parties in these stories are consenting adults, then I'm okay with it.

What irritates me (and that this discussion has brought back to the forefront of my mind) is this assumption that a person who "bottoms" can't be the "seme", or that you can't be the dominant partner from the bottom. I mean, wtf. That's a step away from saying that just because the woman isn't the one doing the penetrating, that means that she can't have a more dominant role in the relationship, which is, in a few words, fucked up to me. So, sure, have Roxas bottom--but that doesn't mean that Axel still can't be Roxas's bitch. Anyway, that's a slight tangent, but yes, seme!Roxas pwns. Because this is canon. :P

I do not understand XemSai. I really don't. Of course, it makes more sense than, say, freaking MarVex (*glowers*), but still. What. And all the uke!Saixs to Xemnas that I've seen are horribly out of character. So, yes, I join you in your hatred of it. Blech.

Oh, it is. Very much so. It's why I despair of my desire to see a coexisting AkuRoku and SoNami story (outside of my own eventual work). Because GAH, Kairi and Riku, you both unfortunately end up ruining everything. (See, 99% of SoNami also go with Roxiri, with the slight variation of a couple RiKai, 95% of AkuRoku go with SoRiku; and if it's NOT SoRiku, then the other 5% is SoKai. *cries*)

Hm, I get Seph and Genesis having skewed morals and stuff, but I expect more of Angeal.... :/ And I dunno, legal ages can vary (hence why I'm not as uptight about ages 16 and 17), but I will always, always think 14 is too young, no matter what the circumstances. (Well, okay, some science-fiction can get weird; but in MOST circumstances, which would include FF7.) Again, child soldiers thing. Just because children are capable of certain things doesn't mean they have the emotional maturity to handle them and/or to handle issues in other areas of life.

I mean, Gundam Wing. Five fifteen-year-old boys trained under arduous conditions to pilot giant war machines, sent to Earth to basically massacre everyone in sight 'til their bosses get what they want. I don't care how expert an assassin Hiiro is or how well Duo handles himself with the ladies or how amazingly Trowa can analyze people and situations or how in-tune Quatre is with other people's feelings or how passionate and dedicated to his beliefs Wufei is, those boys are still completely screwed up. Hiiro doesn't know how to function in a normal high school. Trowa is reduced to a shivering wreck, acting almost like the toddler he was when he first became a war orphan. Quatre literally goes insane and commences a destructive rampage. Wufei can't handle failure, he thinks that he's a completely worthless and shamed person who has nothing left to live for, just because an older and more skilled soldier beat him in a sword duel. I mean, they're out there doing things that no normal kid should ever have to deal with, and I think they should therefore have a say in the resulting political issues, but I still wouldn't consider them adults. Adults having to deal with the same crap those boys did would emerge from those experiences very differently.

WHOA, okay, we're getting into territory I'd rather not discuss~ XD, but I guess just real quick - when I talk about seme & uke, I mostly mean the relationship roles. Because I think physical seme/uke is totally stupid, a person shouldn't be obligated to take the same...um...position every time. (With AkuRoku as an exception because I can't stand the thought of Roxas as physical uke, either. I've even tried thinking of altered ages, but it still doesn't work; even if Axel is like 17 and Roxas is in his mid-20s, I still want to hurl at the thought of Roxas on bottom. But then Axel on bottom only works if he's older than Roxas, because if he's younger, then RokuAku has the same problem as AkuRoku and gaaaaahhhhh, I hate this pairing. This is one of the few times when canon influences AU too much for me.) I mean, there's something called taking turns...ew ew ew I hate sex.... And yeah, I saw the TVtropes page about stuff like semes who are on bottom or ukes who are on top, etc., and yeah, that makes sense to me and sex is disgusting let's talk about something else now. X(

LIKE XEMSAI LOL. The one I'm thinking of, it was something like Saix turns into a raging berserker werewolf on full moons and an adorable puppy on new moons, or something like that. I didn't really mind it because Saix was IC when in human form (and didn't remember being a dog), and Demyx cutely loved puppy-Saix so much. There were a couple of XemSai yaoi moments, but otherwise it was pretty much played for laughs and focused on humor, the Org trying to figure out what to do with this cutely destructive blue puppy. The ones I can't stand are when Saix, in HUMAN form, treats Xemnas with dog-like slavish devotion and has zero self-confidence, and of course Xemnas is written as if he's a decent human being with kind feelings and concern for everyone's welfare. *eyeroll* Hasn't occurred to anyone to try the pairing on more equal footing, has it. I mean, I can't imagine Xemnas ever actually being submissive to Saix in any way, but Sai should at least be putting up way more of a fight, he's not a freaking doormat.

Woo, real life, blah, I'm back again to finish this comment. DX

Anyway, yes, shipping. You mean the fact that my brain weirdly conflicts with itself is fascinating? Because yeah, I can see that, and I have given up on understanding it a while ago. But let me try to explain just a bit.

See, I've gotten to a point with KH where I've got...we'll call them my OTPs. Especially for certain characters, in this case Sora and Riku.

Overall, if I HAD to choose, I'd go with SoNami over SoRiku (though that part of my soul would cry very bitter tears), partially because I love Namine over Riku, but also due in part to its relative unpopularity versus SoRiku (I am huge, huge sucker for 3 things in ships: angst/tragedy, Mom/Dad dynamics, and underdog status). SoNami pings on two of these things, big time, while SoRiku just gets one, and it's not nearly as tragic to me as SoNami. Plus, I just...SoNami's awesome, let's move on. But at the same time, there is literally NO ONE that I can truly ship Riku with, apart from Sora. Seriously. The only other options that I can see Riku having (apart from random crack) are Xion, Kairi, and Namine. For me, Rion only works because of Sora's influence, I can't see any chemistry for RiKai, and Namiku only sort of works, except for the fact that they're both pretty much pining after Sora when they know each other. *headdesk* This is why I'm trying to convince my brain to OT3 the lot of them and just be done with it. Sharing is caring!

At any rate, this doesn't quite happen with others, except with AkuSai (thanks to you :P); with AkuSai being my favorite Saix ship, but AkuRoku being my fav for Axel. Also with Namette being my favorite for Olette, and SoNami my favorite for Namine.

I hate my brain. :/
