Because I can and because I feel like doing it. *shrugs*

1. Good Dads

lalalala can't hear you over the sound of my daddy issues

Yeah, I just like to live vicariously through fictional characters and appreciate some kickass dad awesomeness that I don't get in my real life. Good Moms are adored and appreciated too, but I don't have mommy issues like I do daddy issues, you get me?

The ultimate example of a Good Daddy, in my opinion, is Mufasa from Lion King. You can't take that away from me.

Other examples include Mat Cauthon (Wheel of Time), Tam al'Thor (Wheel of Time), Arthur Weasley (Harry Potter), Dean Winchester (Supernatural), Bobby Singer (Supernatural), Fa Zhou (Mulan), Chief (Fox and the Hound), King Stefan (Sleeping Beauty), Iroh (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Raphael Sorel (Soul Calibur), etc.

2. Enemy Mine / Redemption Arcs

You know what I think I love so much about Enemy Mine situations? How deliciously fucking awkward everything is while the characters struggle to redefine the dynamics in their relationships, and I laugh because everything is precious and I just always want everybody to be friends forever, okay, and that's why I LOVE IT SO MUCH when Bad Characters get to come onto the Good Side, and best of all is when they actually STAY THERE.

My favorite examples include Zuko (Avatar: The Last Airbender), when Kimblee's Chimaeras join the Elrics (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), everything about Princess Tutu, the brief moments when Frodo, Sam, and Gollum/Smeagol were genuinely a team (Lord of the Rings), season 5 of Supernatural, Maleficent and Pete in Kingdom Hearts II and the shenanigans in Dream Drop Distance, X2: X-Men United (and then I cry into my pillow at the end because DAMN IT ERIK), Regina Mills (Once Upon a Time), Gabranth (Final Fantasy XII), Team Destiny aka Dean/Castiel/Benny (Supernatural), etc.

3. Mysterious Badass of Rampant Badassery

As someone once described Strider's first appearance in Fellowship of the Ring to the Hobbits: I'm the most badass motherfucker this side of the Misty Mountains, come with me if you want to live. The ~*mystery*~ in their first appearance is part of their charm to me. I just love me some unrepentant badassery. Oh yes I do. But for them to qualify here, the Mystery in their first Badass Appearance is critical.

Obviously for examples we have Aragorn (Lord of the Rings), who is probably my favorite of this trope, but others include Lan and Moiraine (Wheel of Time), Castiel (Supernatural), the Winchesters to an Outside Perspective (Supernatural), Ruby (Supernatural), Organization XIII, Axel in particular (Kingdom Hearts), Sephiroth (Final Fantasy VII), Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy VII), Balthier and Fran (Final Fantasy XII), Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII), Morgause (BBC's Merlin), Olivier Armstrong (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), Helga Sinclair (Atlantis: The Lost Empire), Kida (Atlantis: The Lost Empire), Mat Cauthon to a degree in some of the later Wheel of Time books, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and Alastor Moody/Barty Crouch Jr (Harry Potter), etc.
